Story

Researched 9 Oct 2026, fact-checked.

The Bullock Fire Tower stands in Hamilton County, Florida.1,2 Its National Historic Lookout Register entry describes a 100-foot Aermotor MC-39 tower with a standard cab.1 The sources reviewed do not say when the tower was built, who put it up, or why it was placed on that site, and no construction record turned up in the searches made for this story.1

The register lists the tower on July 24, 2016, as US 1086, FL 16, with Robert Spear as nominator.1 It gives the site's elevation as 129 feet.1 Nothing reviewed describes the tower's staffing or any fire it was used to watch.1

The register also describes the tower's condition: the site has been abandoned, but the structure is still sound and in good condition.1 The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services administers the tower, according to the register.1 No public access, visiting or climbing rules were found in the sources reviewed.1 Anyone interested should check with that agency before going to the site, and should not climb the tower without its permission.1
