Moccasin Point lies in the Nez Perce National Forest, in Idaho County, Idaho.1,2,3 It sits 28 miles south-southwest of Elk City at 6,569 feet.1 The Nez Perce list places the point at township 24 north, range 7 east, section 12.4 That list was compiled in April 2010 by Cindy L. Schacher, an archaeological technician.4

An L-4 cab went up on the north point around 1930, a date the Forest Service list marks as approximate.1,3,4 By about 1960 the cab was gone, and the sources agree on that.1,2,3,4 The Idaho Fire Lookouts page tags the site as a hike-in, and as both abandoned and gone.2 The Fire Lookout website titles its page "Moccasin Point Fire Lookout Cabin."1
