Story

Researched 8 Oct 2026, fact-checked.

The Fairview Lookout Tower is in Itawamba County, Mississippi, at an elevation of 550 feet (168 m).1 The Register gives its coordinates as N 34.360333° W 088.316618° and numbers it US 1683, MS 43.1 The next entry in its list is Dumas Lookout Tower (US 1684).1 The Register lists it as a 100ft International Derrick, administered by the Mississippi Forestry Commission.1

The Register lists the build date as unknown.1 It says nothing about who staffed the tower or about any fire history at the site.1

Jason Johns nominated the tower after a site visit on July 17, 2022, and it was registered on July 18, 2022.1 That visit is the most recent record found, so the tower's current condition and public access remain unconfirmed.1
