Story
Researched 9 Oct 2026, fact-checked.
The Lincoln Lookout Tower is in Lincoln County, Mississippi.1 The National Historic Lookout Register describes it as a 100-foot Aermotor MC-39 tower, administered by the Mississippi Forestry Commission.1
The Register does not give a build date, and we found no account of who raised the tower or when.1 A state list of public lands by agency, dated July 29, 2020, includes a "Lincoln County Tower" under the Forestry Commission.2 The list does not say whether that is the same structure the Register describes.2
The Register gives the site's elevation as 480 feet, or 146 meters, and records its registration on May 19, 2026.1 We found no visit report or condition survey, so its present condition is unknown.
The county's wildfire protection plan discusses water towers, cell towers and the county's E911 communications tower on the west side of Brookhaven. It does not mention a fire lookout.3 We found nothing on public access, so check with the Forestry Commission before going near the lookout, and do not climb it.
