Story

Researched 9 Oct 2026, fact-checked.

The Reid Lookout Tower is in Calhoun County, Mississippi.1 The National Historic Lookout Register gives its elevation as 512 feet (156 meters).1 It lists a 100-foot Aermotor tower with stairs set on a diagonal.1

The register lists the build date as unknown.1 It names no builder, no year of construction, and no fire the tower watched.1 Its only physical details are the height, the Aermotor design and the staircase.1

The register recorded the tower on July 21, 2022, as US 1686, MS 46, on the nomination of Jason Johns.1 The Mississippi Forestry Commission administers the site.1 The register records no site visit for this tower.1

We could not confirm whether the tower still stands. The register gives no current condition for it.1 We found no other source that describes the tower. The register also gives no access information, so it does not show whether the public may visit.1 The Mississippi Forestry Commission, which administers the site, would be the agency to ask.1
