Story
Researched 9 Oct 2026, fact-checked.
The Teasdale Lookout Tower stands in Tallahatchie County, Mississippi, at about 387 feet (118 meters) above sea level.1 The National Historic Lookout Register describes the site as holding a 100-foot Aermotor LS-40.1
The Register does not say when the tower was built, and it lists the build as unknown.1 We found no record of who staffed the tower or of any fire it watched.
The Register added the tower on July 9, 2023, as US 1736 (MS 53), on the nomination of Jason Johns.1 Its entry is based on a site visit dated July 2, 2023.1
The Register lists the Mississippi Forestry Commission as a cooperator, but it names the site's administrator as a private owner. Its description says the site appears to be privately owned now.1 The wording is rough, so it is unclear whether the entry means a former Forestry Commission site or a current one. The Register gives no date for any change in ownership.1
The entry describes the tower as present in 2023, but we found nothing newer about its condition. The Register does not describe public access. Because the site appears to be privately owned, anyone interested should ask the owner first, and should not climb a tower without permission.1
