Green Mountain is a timbered peak in the Flathead National Forest in Flathead County, Montana, rising to about 7,418 feet.1,2 A survey description places it roughly seven and a half miles northeast of the Spotted Bear Ranger Station.2 The 1940 survey describes the summit as a sharp, timbered peak with a bare top.2 Rex's page gives its legal location as 26N-14W-35, meaning section 35 of township 26 North, range 14 West.2

Firelookout.com lists a 10-foot pole L-4 tower on the north summit, dated 1936.1 Rex's page gives the same c.1936 date for the tower.2 A 1940 Coast and Geodetic Survey description refers to a Forest Service lookout house at the site.2

Both history pages say the tower was destroyed in 1975.1,2

A Forest Fire Lookout Association listing marks the tower as gone.3 No source I found describes what remains on the summit now, or whether visitors may go there.
