Story

Researched 9 Oct 2026, fact-checked.

The tower stands behind the Bass Pro Shop off Route 3A in Hooksett, New Hampshire, in Merrimack County.1,2 It is a refurbished Aermotor tower.1 Early in 2022, Valley Crane Company erected it on the site, after Davana had refurbished it.1

The Forest Fire Lookout Association's New Hampshire list says the tower was relocated from Alabama.2 The association's 2022 chapter report does not confirm that. It says Davana has not responded to an inquiry about where the tower was removed from.1 The searches we ran did not turn up another source that names the earlier site.

We found no record of a fire watch, staffing or fires for this tower in the sources we read.

The 2022 report says the tower sits in a fenced area, is not open to the public, and is missing its first flight of stairs.1 The association's list shows it as standing.2 The report dates from 2022 and the list is undated, so neither shows its condition today. Treat the site as closed. Stay out of the fenced area, and do not try to climb the tower.
