View from the cab
What the lookout saw from its cab: every ridge out to about 93 miles, the named peaks in sight, and other fire lookouts within view, worked out from terrain data in your browser.
This lookout is gone. The view is reconstructed from its recorded site and a typical height for a lookout like it.
Downloads about 3.5 MB of terrain data the first time.

Story
Researched 10 Oct 2026, fact-checked.
The Game Lake Peak lookout stood in the Siskiyou National Forest, about 15 miles east of Gold Beach in Curry County, Oregon.1,2
A Siskiyou National Forest station record dated February 11, 1914, quoted by Forest Lookouts, describes the summit site as already serving as a stop-over. The writer thought it would make a useful lookout after upgrades.2
A lookout was built in 1934. Firelookout.com gives it an L-4 cab and calls the building a cabin.1 Forest Lookouts also records a lookout constructed that year.2
A May 1940 Siskiyou National Forest guard placement plan judged fire danger in the area it covered almost as high as at Agness.2 In 1941 the lookout was staffed for 105 days and reported to the Agness Ranger Station by radio.2 We found no staffing record after that year.
Firelookout.com says the lookout was abandoned in 1942.1 Forest Lookouts marks the site as removed but gives no date.2 The Forest Fire Lookout Association's Oregon list classes the site as "Ground" and marks it gone.3
No source we read describes what remains on the ground at Game Lake Peak, or whether the public can reach it. Both sources place the site in national forest land, so the forest office is the place to ask about access.1,2
