View from the cab
What the lookout saw from its cab: every ridge out to about 93 miles, the named peaks in sight, and other fire lookouts within view, worked out from terrain data in your browser.
This lookout is gone. The view is reconstructed from its recorded site and a typical height for a lookout like it.
Downloads about 3.6 MB of terrain data the first time.

Story
Researched 9 Oct 2026, fact-checked.
Rebel Rock was a lookout site in a saddle about a mile southwest of the summit, in the Three Sisters Wilderness.1 The site lies in the Willamette National Forest in Lane County.2
An L-4 ground cab went up there in 1955.2,1,3 A September 1967 memo quoted on the Weebly page counts Rebel Rock as one of two unused lookouts on its district and says it was in very good condition.3
A 1949 Eugene Guard item, quoted on the same page, mentions Rebel Rock lookout in connection with slides shown at a Forest Service banquet, which would predate the 1955 build date.3 None of the pages read explains that earlier reference.3
The 2017 Oregon chapter report says Rebel Rock was lost in the Rebel Fire.4 The Former Fire Lookout Sites Register says the lookout burned in the Rebel Fire in 2017, and firelookout.com says the cab had stood abandoned since the 1960s before the fire.2,1
The Weebly page dates the loss of the structure to September 2017, when a wildfire destroyed it.3 None of the pages read describes what, if anything, remains at the saddle today, or whether visitors can reach it, so this story does not guess.2
