Sugarloaf Mountain in Coos County, Oregon, had a lookout on it, but the sources do not agree on when it was built.1,2 Firelookout.com describes a cupola cabin from 1928.1 The Forest Lookouts page for the Coos entry says a lookout house was constructed around 1935.2 That page places the site at township 29 south, range 12 west, section 13.2

Firelookout.com puts the site ten miles south-southeast of Coquille, at 1,560 feet.1

The Forest Lookouts page says the lookout was not on the 1958 inventory of lookouts, and it marks the site as removed.2 The Forest Fire Lookout Association's Oregon list records the Coos site as type "Ground" and status "Gone", with no register number.3 Firelookout.com gives only the word abandoned, with no date for when it was abandoned.1

A different Sugar Loaf lookout, at the head of the Sixes River in Curry County, was being built in March 1926.4 The Forest Lookouts page files that one under the same Coos County patrol association, so the two are easy to confuse.4

No source we read describes what, if anything, remains of the Coos lookout, or whether the ground is open to visitors.3
