View from the cab
What the lookout saw from its cab: every ridge out to about 93 miles, the named peaks in sight, and other fire lookouts within view, worked out from terrain data in your browser.
This lookout is gone. The view is reconstructed from its recorded site and a typical height for a lookout like it.
Downloads about 3.7 MB of terrain data the first time.

Story
Researched 10 Oct 2026, fact-checked.
Wagner's fire lookout stood in Juniata County, Pennsylvania.1,2 The Former Fire Lookout Sites register describes it as a steel Blaw-Knox tower, built in 1923, and says it has since been removed.1
The register gives the site an elevation of 1,847 feet (563 m) and places it at 40.653964 N, 77.384991 W. It names Henry Isenberg as the nominator, and the entry was registered on September 16, 2008.1
The Eastern U.S. Forest Lookouts page for the tower lists it only under Juniata County, Pennsylvania, with nothing written beneath that heading.2
The name survives on maps.3 A TopoQuest gazetteer entry titled Wagner Lookout Tower sits at the same coordinates, on the USGS Alfarata map.3 That is a map label, and it does not show whether any structure remains. No source we read describes what, if anything, stands at the site now, or whether the ground is open to visitors.1,2,3
