Story
Researched 9 Oct 2026, fact-checked.
The Paris Fire Tower stands in Henry County, Tennessee, at a site the register describes as an active Tennessee Forestry location.1 The Tennessee Division of Forestry administers it, and the register describes it as an 80-foot Aermotor LS-40 tower.1
The register does not say when the tower was built.1 It gives the site an elevation of 613 feet, or 187 meters, while the Tennessee list gives 617 feet.1,2 The difference is small, and we report both figures.
The register records a site visit on January 28, 2023, and the tower was registered on February 1, 2023.1 The Tennessee list marks the tower as standing.2
We found no record of who built the tower, who staffed it, or which fires it watched. Our searches did not turn up any news or agency history for this site.
Today the register places the tower on an active forestry site, and we found no visiting rules.1 The Tennessee list advises against climbing the towers, because steps are often removed or rotten.2 Ask the Tennessee Division of Forestry before going near it.
