View from the cab
What the lookout saw from its cab: every ridge out to about 93 miles, the named peaks in sight, and other fire lookouts within view, worked out from terrain data in your browser.
This lookout is gone. The view is reconstructed from its recorded site and a typical height for a lookout like it.
Downloads about 4.3 MB of terrain data the first time.
Or see what it could see on the map: the ground in its line of sight.

Story
Researched 9 Oct 2026, fact-checked.
The Cady Point lookout stood in Whatcom County, Washington, in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest.1 Firetower.org lists the U.S. Forest Service as the administrator.1 Sources date the lookout to 1935, when a two-story L-5 cab was built on the site.1,2,3
WillhiteWeb's page says panoramic photographs were shot from the roof, 12.5 feet up, that same year. Its text puts them in September, but its captions and a Weebly listing date them to August 11, 1935.3,4
We found no source that names who staffed the lookout or describes any fires it watched.
Sources agree the lookout was abandoned in 1970.1,2,3 Firetower.org and firelookout.com say the site now lies within North Cascades National Park.1,2 A Weebly list of Washington lookouts marks it as removed.4
We found no source that describes what, if anything, remains at the site. WillhiteWeb's page says its author had not visited the site yet, so it gives no first-hand account of its condition.3 Because the site is inside a national park,1,2 the park is the place to ask about access and rules.
