View from the cab
What the lookout saw from its cab: every ridge out to about 93 miles, the named peaks in sight, and other fire lookouts within view, worked out from terrain data in your browser.
This lookout is gone. The view is reconstructed from its recorded site and a typical height for a lookout like it.
Downloads about 4.3 MB of terrain data the first time.

Story
Researched 9 Oct 2026, fact-checked.
Tiffany Mountain sits in the Okanogan National Forest, about 11 miles northwest of Conconully.1,2
The tower the register describes was an 8-foot pole tower with a gable-roofed L-4 cab, built in 1931.1,3 Willhite also names Stanley Van De Camp as the lookout for the 1930 season, the year before that build date.3 Paul Downs, a Forest Service employee from the Conconully district, was the lookout in 1937.3
In 1950 a USGS party described the lookout as a 14-foot square wooden structure on an 8-foot tower of timber, its roof about 22 feet up.3
The end came in 1953.1,2,3,4 The register says the tower was removed that year, while FirelookOut says it was destroyed, and a Washington Trails Association trip report also says destroyed.1,2,4 Willhite uses both verbs, saying it was removed or destroyed.3
A trip report says the summit is more a sloping meadow dotted with granite boulders.4 No source describes what, if anything, remains of the lookout on the summit.
Willhite's directions run north from Winthrop on County Road 9137, then along Forest Service roads 37 and 39 to a pass, where a signed trail begins.3 The Freezeout Pass Trail No. 345 is the route he describes, and he lists the hike as 2 miles with 1,700 feet of gain.3 He says the summit gives wide views east to the Cascades and west to the Kettle Range when the weather cooperates.3
