Story

Researched 8 Oct 2026, fact-checked.

The Ogema Lookout is an 80-foot Wisconsin standard tower that sits atop Timms Hill, Wisconsin's highest natural point, in Price County.1 The National Historic Lookout Register says it was built in 1932, has an external protected ladder, and is administered by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.1 A 2019 Milwaukee Journal Sentinel piece gives the same 1932 date.2 A survey history also dates the summit fire tower to 1932.3

According to the same survey history, a second lookout was put up beside the 1932 tower in 1982.3 The Register also describes a wooden observation tower beside the lookout.1

The Register lists its registration date as June 28, 2017, with Tyler Bormann as nominator.1 The sources read say nothing about who staffed the tower or what fires it watched.

The tower is still standing. The 2019 article says the state's highest point still has its fire tower,2 and the Association's Wisconsin county list shows it as standing.4

The 2019 article says the fire tower is not open for climbing, but that an observation tower next to it can be climbed.2 The Register places the site in Timms Hill County Park and describes that observation tower as open to the public.1 Please leave the fire tower itself alone.
