Classes in Philadelphia (address not listed) and online

We do not have a meeting place for this group yet.

You can join online.

Your first visit

Feeling unsure the first time is normal. Most groups are glad when someone new walks in.

First step: RSVP for a free Thursdays on the Stoop Zoom session listed on the events page, then read the financial aid page before you register for a paid class..

Check with the group before you show up. You need to sign up first.

What to expect

A free Thursdays on the Stoop session runs on Zoom from 4 to 5 pm, and the site asks attendees to follow its online code of conduct. Creative Coworking is quiet writing time: on Zoom your mic stays off during the silent work period. Paid classes typically have 7 to 15 students and need at least 7 to run, and if a class cannot run you get a full refund.

Tips for your first visit

  • RSVP through the link for the session you want, since most events and Zoom sessions need one.
  • Check the event page for each venue, because in-person venues differ in access.
  • Eligible students get at least 33% off list tuition, so ask before you pay for a class.

Newcomer welcome

Fine for newcomers, but you may need to speak up (3 out of 5). Why we say this: Free public events and Zoom sessions are open to anyone who RSVPs, and the class FAQ says classes suit adults interested in creative writing. The site does not say beginners are welcome..

Cost and commitment

Cost
Paid. Classes are paid. Eligible students get at least 33% off list tuition, and some low-income students in the service area can apply for full scholarships. Free public events are listed on the events page, and Afterpay payment plans are offered at checkout.

Access and languages

Wheelchair access
Partly wheelchair accessible
Languages spoken

Access notes
The class FAQ says classrooms and bathrooms are wheelchair accessible, but the doors have no automatic openers. Zoom classes get automatic captions. Staff try to meet access needs that students share at registration.

We found no special requirements. Ask the group if you are not sure.
