Quizzo nights

Quizzo is what Philadelphia calls pub trivia. A host reads out questions, teams of friends and strangers write down their answers, and the best table wins, usually a bar gift card. It happens in the same bar on the same night every week.

Many of these leads came from Billy Penn: Philly quizzo guide (August 2026). We list only nights we could confirm from the venue or the quiz host, so check it for more.

Why it is a good way in

The same bar, the same night, every week. Go three or four times and the host, the bartender and the other teams start to know your face. That is how a newcomer turns into a regular. You do not have to be a trivia whiz. A table where everyone knows one odd thing is hard to beat.

Coming on your own, or as a pair

You do not need a team before you walk in. Get there a little early, tell the host you are on your own, and ask to be placed with a team. Most hosts are glad to do it. Or bring one friend and start a team of two. Pick a silly team name and sit near other tables so people can wave you over. Some bars cap a team at six, so check the team size on each night.

Cost, prizes and ages

Most quizzo nights are free to play. Prizes are often bar gift cards, so winning means another night out. Plan to order food or drinks and tip your server, since that is how the bar pays for the night. A few nights charge a small fee, and we say so when we know. Most of these bars are 21 and over. A few welcome all ages, and we say so when the venue does. If a night does not list an age rule, ask the bar before you go.
