Your first visit

Feeling unsure the first time is normal. Most groups are glad when someone new walks in.

First step: Come to the Wednesday or Friday 10 am playgroup at 1542 E Montgomery Ave, using the alley entrance and then the stairs..

You can just show up.

What to expect

Playgroup is loosely planned, with free play, circle time, and a snack, and adults can get coffee or tea. Parents, grandparents, and caregivers come along, and the sessions last about an hour and a half. Staff and other parents share parenting tips while the children play.

Tips for your first visit

  • Bring a $5 donation if you can; it is suggested, not required.
  • Walk down the alley, go through the white doors, and climb the stairs to the playgroup space.
  • Street parking is usually available during the day.

Newcomer welcome

Fine for newcomers, but you may need to speak up (3 out of 5). Why we say this: The playgroups are open to all families on posted weekly times with no registration listed, and the page says to come as you are. It does not say newcomers are specifically welcomed..

Cost and commitment

Cost
Low cost. The playgroup page asks for a suggested $5 donation per session and says no one is turned away for lack of money. It does not list a separate price for the Monday baby group.

Access and languages

Wheelchair access
We do not know yet. Ask the group before you go.

Access notes
The playgroup space is up a flight of stairs; the page does not mention an elevator or stroller access. Nearest SEPTA stop named on the directions page: the Berks Street El stop, a few blocks away. Buses 5 and 25 stop at Frankford and Montgomery.
