Nonprofit
Citizens for a No-Kill Philadelphia
A nonprofit that works to save healthy and treatable pets in Philadelphia shelters. It runs free community pet food pantries and helps owners find rescues instead of surrendering pets.

What they do
Donate pet food or supplies at a pantry event, or email info@phillynokill.org to ask how to help. The site does not list volunteer roles, so ask first. The free pet pantry serves low-income households with pets, and the help desk can point owners to help with stray or lost pets, or to a rescue for a pet they can no longer keep.

When and where
The free pet pantry moves to a different Philadelphia neighborhood each month. Dates are on the monthly calendar on the pantry page.
Pet pantry and outreach events across Philadelphia
We do not have a meeting place for this group yet.
Your first visit
Feeling unsure the first time is normal. Most groups are glad when someone new walks in.
First step: Email info@phillynokill.org to ask about the next pet pantry or how to volunteer..
Check with the group before you show up. You need to sign up first.
What to expect
The pantry gives free food and supplies for cats and dogs kept mainly indoors, at monthly events in different Philadelphia neighborhoods. Before the first visit you complete an application and a pet pantry agreement, and bring a valid ID, proof of residency such as a utility bill or lease, and proof of your pets such as vaccination records or photos. To become a repeat participant, owners must agree to spay or neuter their pets.
Tips for your first visit
- Bring a valid ID or driver's license, proof of residency, and proof of how many pets you have.
- Breeding households are not eligible, and community cat feeding is not covered.
- The help desk handles stray or lost pets and rehoming questions, and the same email address can answer them.
Newcomer welcome
Takes some effort for newcomers (2 out of 5). Why we say this: The pantry needs an application and agreement before a first visit, and the site describes no volunteer steps, so the way in is unclear..
