Your first visit

Feeling unsure the first time is normal. Most groups are glad when someone new walks in.

First step: Buy a show ticket online at fringearts.com, where sales are open 24 hours a day, or email Volunteer@FringeArts.com if you want to volunteer and are 14 or older..

Check with the group before you show up.

What to expect

A first visit is usually a ticketed show or a workshop, and the box office opens one hour before showtime. Doors usually open about 30 minutes before the show, and drinks are allowed in the theater. The page does not say how long a show runs, and it does not describe what a volunteer shift involves beyond ushering, greeting, and handing out programs.

Tips for your first visit

  • Have your ticket on your phone or printed. You can also check in at the door with your last name.
  • Doors usually open about 30 minutes before showtime, so arrive early.
  • Bring a Student ID if you buy the $15 student ticket.
  • The entrance is in the middle of the Haas Biergarten, facing Race Street, under the large FringeArts sign.

Newcomer welcome

Fine for newcomers, but you may need to speak up (3 out of 5). Why we say this: Public shows are open to any ticket buyer, and volunteers can sign up by email, but the page does not describe a beginner program or first timer event..

Cost and commitment

Cost
Paid. Ticket prices are set per show, and standard adult prices are on each ticket page. Most shows have a $15 student and 25-and-under ticket, and FringeACCESS card holders can buy up to four $2 tickets. Membership is $65 or $100 for 12 months, for one or two 20% off tickets per show.

Access notes
The page says the building is wheelchair accessible and mobility device friendly. The main theater is a steep raked space with a limited number of ground level seats for people who cannot manage stairs. Assistive listening devices are offered for shows with amplified sound. Sensory kits are available on request, with fidget toys, noise canceling headphones, earplugs, and weighted lap blankets. You may step out during a show to a quieter area. Service animals are welcome with advance notice. The page does not mention elevators, accessible restrooms, or ASL or captioned shows.
