Your first visit

Feeling unsure the first time is normal. Most groups are glad when someone new walks in.

First step: Come to a walk-in tour Thursday to Sunday, 10 am to 3 pm, or call 215-228-8364 to ask about picking fruit or volunteering in the gardens..

You can just show up.

What to expect

Tours are guided and start on the hour, taking you through rooms of antiques, fine art and collectibles from the 18th and 19th centuries. The site does not say how long a tour takes. Volunteers work in the gardens and orchard, and the site describes no training or set hours.

Tips for your first visit

  • Bring cash or a check, since the mansion does not take cards.
  • Ask about virtual tour options before you come if you cannot use the stairs.
  • Parking is free and off-street for up to 50 vehicles.
  • Take SEPTA bus Route 32 to the stop on 33rd Street near Dauphin Street.

Newcomer welcome

Fine for newcomers, but you may need to speak up (3 out of 5). Why we say this: Tours are walk-in and open to the public, and volunteer questions go to an email address, with no online form described..

Cost and commitment

Cost
Low cost. Walk-in tours cost $8 for general admission, $5 for students, youth and seniors, and are free for veterans and active-duty military. Groups of 10 or more pay $5 each with advance registration.
