Your first visit
Feeling unsure the first time is normal. Most groups are glad when someone new walks in.
First step: Email kyodaiko.info@gmail.com to ask about the next Fundamentals class, which needs no prior experience and provides all equipment.
Check with the group before you show up. You need to sign up first.
What to expect
The Fundamentals class runs 90 minutes on Thursday evenings and provides all the drums and equipment. Ages 12 and up may join, and younger children need a parent supervising. If you want a shorter try first, the taiko taster is a two hour hands-on workshop.
Tips for your first visit
- Email before you come to confirm the class is running and where it meets
- Ask about fees before you go, since the classes page does not list them
- Try a taiko taster workshop first if you want a short hands-on start
Newcomer welcome
Welcoming to newcomers (4 out of 5). Why we say this: The classes page says no experience is needed and all equipment is provided, and the group welcomes new members, but joining goes through an email to the teacher rather than a drop-in..
