Love Your Park

A citywide volunteer program for Philadelphia's parks, with cleanup days each spring and a Fall Weekend of service each fall. The Fairmount Park Conservancy and Philadelphia Parks & Recreation run it with park partner groups.

Saved in this browser only.

What they do

Pick a cleanup, trail or planting day from the events list. Individuals can get a solo cleanup kit, and groups can join a park friends group, start one, or organize their own event.

When and where

A citywide week of park cleanups each spring and a volunteer weekend each fall. Smaller work days are listed on the events page, often on Saturday mornings.

We do not have a meeting place for this group yet.

Your first visit

Feeling unsure the first time is normal. Most groups are glad when someone new walks in.

First step: Choose a work day from the events list at loveyourpark.org. Where the listing says to register, use its Learn More link. Individuals can also ask for a solo cleanup kit..

You need to sign up first.

What to expect

Work days usually run about two hours, such as 10 am to noon. Volunteers pick up trash, clear trails, weed, mulch and restore native plants. Tools and gloves are provided at some sites, and both individuals and groups can take part.

Tips for your first visit

  • Bring your own water bottle, since the site asks volunteers to bring one.
  • Some listings give only a park name, so allow time to find the meeting spot before the work day starts.
  • Some events are cancelled in heavy rain, thunder or severe weather, so check the listing before you go.

Newcomer welcome

Fine for newcomers, but you may need to speak up (3 out of 5). Why we say this: Anyone can take part, and each work day lists a time and meeting spot, but some listings need registration first..
