Your first visit
Feeling unsure the first time is normal. Most groups are glad when someone new walks in.
First step: Fill in the interest form on the recruiting page. The club says it replies within 72 hours, then come to a rookie practice in athletic clothing..
Check with the group before you show up. You need to sign up first.
What to expect
Rookie practices are a gentler entry than the early morning high performance sessions and focus more on technique. Loaner paddles, seat pads, and life jackets are provided, and rookie practice is once a week on a weeknight at 6 pm starting in mid June. The site does not say how long a practice lasts or whether you must swim.
Tips for your first visit
- Wear athletic clothes suited to the weather
- Send the interest form first, since the club replies within 72 hours
- Watch the recruiting page for the rookie night, which is still to be set
Newcomer welcome
Welcoming to newcomers (4 out of 5). Why we say this: The club runs rookie practices with loaner gear and explains how a newcomer starts, using an interest form and a reply time.
