Philadelphia Gay Men's Chorus
A men's chorus that performs concerts, does outreach with students, and takes bookings for events, with a focus on LGBTQ+ acceptance. It seeks tenor, baritone and bass singers, and has a separate dancers page.
Saved in this browser only.
What they do
Audition to sing tenor, baritone or bass (about 5 minutes, one on one with the director), or ask the volunteer contact about helping out. You can also come to a concert or the 80s Prom Night fundraiser, or become a member or donor.

Your first visit
Feeling unsure the first time is normal. Most groups are glad when someone new walks in.
First step: Book a singer audition through the link on the audition page, which opens a few weeks before each round, or email membership@pgmc.org to ask for the next date..
You need to sign up first.
What to expect
An audition is one on one with the director and takes about 5 minutes. You do range and pitch exercises, sing a familiar song the director picks, and then sing your part from a piece you probably do not know. The page says you do not need a prepared piece.
Tips for your first visit
- You need basic note names, sharps, flats and time signatures, but you do not need to read music perfectly.
- When you book, give your name and a phone number or email, and write again if you have no reply within about a week.
- The audition page gives no parking or transit details, so ask when you book.
Newcomer welcome
Fine for newcomers, but you may need to speak up (3 out of 5). Why we say this: Anyone who sings tenor, baritone or bass can book an audition, but the site does not say whether visitors can sit in on rehearsals..
Cost and commitment
- Cost
- Cost not known yet. The audition page mentions no audition fee. Concert ticket prices are not shown on the home page.
