Your first visit

Feeling unsure the first time is normal. Most groups are glad when someone new walks in.

First step: Register for the next eight week new skater bootcamp through the league's sign up form, or email prdcheeseskates@gmail.com with questions. To volunteer, email the Member at Large at prdmemberatlarge@gmail.com..

You need to sign up first.

What to expect

The adult bootcamp meets for eight weekly sessions and starts on a Sunday afternoon. You practice stopping, learning to fall safely, weaving, crossovers, and backward skating, and the last session is a review with a fun dance. Expect a gear check in week one and a $60 fee paid up front.

Tips for your first visit

  • Plan to sign the league and rink waivers.
  • Spots are limited, so register early.
  • Allow travel time, since the bootcamp is in Springfield, PA, outside the city.

Newcomer welcome

Welcoming to newcomers (4 out of 5). Why we say this: The site has a bootcamp for adults with no skating skills, says how to register, and lists volunteer and officiating roles that take people with no experience..

Cost and commitment

Cost
Low cost. Volunteering and non-skating officiating cost nothing. The eight week adult bootcamp is $60, paid at registration and not refundable. Skating officials buy their own gear and pay for annual insurance.
