Your first visit

Feeling unsure the first time is normal. Most groups are glad when someone new walks in.

First step: Email phillyunknownproject@gmail.com with Volunteer Interest as the subject, and ask about the next shift..

You need to sign up first.

What to expect

You help with street outreach or pack compassion bags, and some volunteers help at the hub or with the Ruth Street Garden. You arrange a shift by email first. Volunteering costs nothing.

Tips for your first visit

  • Use Volunteer Interest as the subject line of your email.
  • The site gives no hub hours, so ask about times before you go to D Street and Indiana.

Newcomer welcome

Fine for newcomers, but you may need to speak up (3 out of 5). Why we say this: A public volunteer email is listed and the roles are described, but the site gives no schedule, training or first shift steps..

Cost and commitment

Cost
Free. Free to volunteer. Donations are welcome through the group's donation page.
