Your first visit

Feeling unsure the first time is normal. Most groups are glad when someone new walks in.

First step: Book a timed house tour by calling 215-329-7312 or emailing programs@stenton.org. A booking guarantees your place..

You can just show up.

What to expect

A visit is a timed tour of the historic house that starts on the hour. The site does not say how long a tour lasts or who leads it, so ask when you book. Adult admission is $10, with lower prices for students, children and seniors, and children under 6 are free.

Tips for your first visit

  • Reserve a spot on a timed tour, since a booking guarantees your place.
  • Arrive a few minutes early, since tours start on the hour.
  • The gate is on North 18th Street, just off Windrim Avenue.
  • Take the Regional Rail to Wayne Junction, or Bus 23 to Windrim and Germantown Avenues.

Newcomer welcome

Fine for newcomers, but you may need to speak up (3 out of 5). Why we say this: Tours and many events are open to the public and can be booked by phone or email. The site does not describe a newcomer program or say whether walk-ins are welcome..

Cost and commitment

Cost
Low cost. Adult admission is $10, and students, children and seniors pay $8. Children under 6 are free, and so are Friends of Stenton members and residents of zip codes 19140, 19141 and 19144. Groups of more than 10 pay $8 each. Some events, such as the fall symposium, have their own ticket prices.
