What they do

Help run a giveaway event. The city's pages do not list the tasks volunteers do, so ask the TreePhilly office first.

Your first visit

Feeling unsure the first time is normal. Most groups are glad when someone new walks in.

First step: Email treephilly@phila.gov or call 215-683-0217 to ask about volunteering at a giveaway, or fill in the volunteer form linked on the TreePhilly page for the Bartram's Garden giveaway on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2026..

You need to sign up first.

Tips for your first visit

  • Ask the TreePhilly office what volunteers do at a giveaway before you sign up.
  • Trees go only to Philadelphia residents who register through the TreePhilly page.

Newcomer welcome

Fine for newcomers, but you may need to speak up (3 out of 5). Why we say this: Volunteering is open to the public by form or by email, but the city's pages describe no training and no shift tasks..

Cost and commitment

Cost
Free. Trees are free, but only Philadelphia residents can take one, and it must be planted in the ground.
