Your first visit
Feeling unsure the first time is normal. Most groups are glad when someone new walks in.
First step: Email the City's Parks and Recreation stewardship office at PPRstewardship@phila.gov, or call 215-683-3679, and ask to be connected with the Friends of Wissinoming. For citywide cleanup dates, see loveyourpark.org..
What to expect
The most recent cleanup we found was a November 2023 fall event, which drew over 100 volunteers. They planted trees and bulbs, raked, mulched, swept and picked up trash before winter. We have no newer details on meeting times or cost.
Newcomer welcome
Takes some effort for newcomers (2 out of 5). Why we say this: The group's own website did not open for us, so we could not confirm how to join. The City's stewardship office is the only route we found, so the way in is unclear..
